Ink drawing made from Irish river water – ‘An Laoi’
The water in these drawings has been collected from rivers, streams, puddles and rainfall across Ireland. Original artwork and a thoughtful, unusual piece by a Dublin based artist with an international reputation, Nicola Anthony. River water as a metaphor for society and our inherent connectedness has been a theme throughout the creation of this series of ink drawings. (See below for full description).
The water in these drawings has been collected from rivers, streams, puddles and rainfall across Ireland. River water as a metaphor for society has been a theme throughout the creation of this series of ink drawings by Dublin-based artist Nicola Anthony: Everyone is connected, part of Ireland, part of the world… but the river splits and divides; it crosses borders and emerges as streams, puddles and bubbles; it gets gentrified and compartmentalised, stranded and evaporated, and it forgets that each droplet is part of the whole.
