I have a five-generation, connectivity with all sorts of musical genres. Irish Music Sessions, festivals, sing-songs, musicals, and choirs – were our nights out. I was lucky to live in Arklow, Co. Wicklow with its renowned body of excellent – makers of music where the traditions are as strong.
I loved to sketch – with the rhythm – capturing the body language, the glances and nods, the speed and variety at which the music was made – the unity and interaction when sound, light, shapes and musicians melded as one. This particular painting was inspired by sketches done at a Christy Moore concert playing with Planxty.
